Cambodia to Thailand

Up to the Thai border, the road was like a washboard where you couldn’t even ride a bicycle, but when we entered Thailand, there was a beautiful paved road.

There were white lines separating the roadway from the pavement, and the neatly evenly spaced utility poles on the side of the road looked unusual.

If you came directly from Japan, you wouldn’t feel that way, but when you enter Thailand from Cambodia, you will be surprised by the dramatic changes.

I had heard that Thailand was safe, so I didn’t worry too much about camping out, and just lay down in front of the shutters of closed shops.

There are three possible routes from Thailand to India.

The first is to enter India via Myanmar, the nearest country.

The second is to cross to India by boat from Malaysia or Singapore.

The third way is to go north from Thailand into Tibet and then over the Himalayas into India. which I would prefer not to do as it would involve crossing the Himalayas, the highest mountain range in the world.

I will be getting an Indian visa in Bangkok, during which time I will be sleeping on the streets of Bangkok. The first day I slept on a bench and the next day we went to the Indian Embassy.

I had to wait in a very long queue, but I was able to apply successfully. I would receive my visa in a week, which meant I would have to stay in Bangkok for a week.
